The latest news on local athletes who are continuing to play at the college or professional levels.

Gio Brusa

Sport: Baseball

High school: St. Mary’s

College: Pacific

Brusa, a right fielder, singled in a 3-2 loss to Sacramento State and singled in a 10-4 loss to Pepperdine. He added a run scored in a 5-4 win over Pepperdine. Brusa had three hits, including a double, and scored two runs in an 11-5 loss to Pepperdine.

J.J. Wagner

Sport: Baseball

High school: St. Mary’s

College: Pacific

Wagner, a third baseman, singled in a 3-2 loss to Sacramento State and doubled in a 10-4 loss to Pepperdine. He added an RBI single and scored a run in a 5-4 win over Pepperdine and added another RBI in an 11-5 loss to Pepperdine.

Will Lydon

Sport: Baseball

High school: Tokay

College: Pacific

Lydon, a pitcher, won his first game of the season by allowing just three runs on five hits with three walks and 12 strikeouts in a 5-4 victory over Pepperdine.

Joey Armstrong

Sport: Baseball

High school: Lodi

College: UNLV

Armstrong, a junior center fielder, drew a walk in a 5-4 loss to Long Beach State. He knocked out four hits and drove in two runs in a 10-9 loss to Nevada-Reno and added two more hits and a run scored in a 12-1 loss to Nevada-Reno.

Armstrong slugged his first home run of the season; a two-run shot to left field in the third inning and added another single in a 6-2 loss to Nevada-Reno.

Allie Mendez

Sport: Softball

High school: Lodi

College: San Joaquin Delta

Mendez, a pitcher/outfielder, doubled in a 4-1 loss to Santa Rosa. She drove in six runs on three hits, including a double, and scored a run in a 16-3 win over Santa Rosa.

Haylee Moran-Rowen

Sport: Softball

High school: Tokay/McNair

College: San Joaquin Delta

Moran-Rowen singled in an 8-0 loss to Sierra. She doubled, singled and drove in a run in a 4-1 loss to Santa Rosa and went 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored and two stolen bases in a 16-3 win over Santa Rosa.

Taylor Barsi

Sport: Softball

High school: Lodi

College: San Joaquin Delta

Barsi had a single in an 8-0 loss to Sierra and a walk in a 4-1 loss to Santa Rosa. She added a run-scoring double and run scored in a 16-3 win over Santa Rosa.

Bryce Graddy

Sport: Baseball

High school: Tokay

College: San Joaquin Delta

Graddy, a second baseman, belted a run-scoring single in a 7-1 win over Sierra and picked up two more RBI on a pair of doubles in a 7-0 win over Sierra for the Mustangs (26-0, 12-0 Big 8 Conference).

Matt Richardson

Sport: Baseball

High school: Tokay

College: Cosumnes River

Richardson, a pitcher, allowed three runs on seven hits with three walks and one strikeout and did not figure in the decision in a 5-4 victory over Santa Rosa.

Kelsey Connolly

Sport: Softball

High school: Tokay

College: Thomas University (GA)

Connolly, a designated hitter/catcher, singled in an 8-0 loss to South Carolina-Beaufort.

Jeff Gillingham

Sport: Rugby

High school: Lodi

Club: Glendale Raptors

Gillingham played the entire game coming away with a 48-12 win over Lindenwood University (St. Charles, Mo.).
