Pacific bests Boise State in sand volleyball

  • The Pacific sand volleyball team recovered from a Saturday loss by beating Boise State 4-1 Sunday in Sacramento. Pacific finished its three-match road trip at 2-1, and it’s the second consecutive season the Tigers have beaten the Broncos.

    Freshmen Taylor Poncetta and Andie Shelton gave Pacific (10-6) its first point of the day, beating Maddi Osburn and Jaymee Bulda 21-7, 21-15. The Tigers earned three other wins, as Lexi Elman and Anne-Sophie Bauer beat Hannah Hubbard and Maddy O’Donnell 21-17, 21-15; Mia Feiner and Gillian Howard topped Sarah Baugh and Sierra Nobley 25-23, 14-21,15-10 and Kimmy Whitson and Alijca Wilk outlasted Katelyn Kinghorn and Aly Duffin 16-21, 21-18, 15-11. Boise State’s Taylor Murphey and Laney Hayes beat Pacific’s Megan Birch and Maycie LaBass 21-18, 21-14.

    The Tigers have the week off before playing April 14 at Stanford. Pacific started the year by winning the NorCal Invitational title, and beat Stanford 5-0 in the process.
